U12s Matlock v Dronfield

An away trip to Matlock for the U13’s this morning. The hosts looking to avenge our victory against them in the NLD Cup started hard and fast with Dronfield seemingly suffering a confidence hangover from last weeks defeat to Tigers. Matlock were much quicker to the breakdown, jackling for turnovers and ripping ball in the tackle. Quick ball found their pace out wide and their huge forwards proved to be decisive powering over at close range.

The return to Gosforth Fields after 3 away fixtures to top four sides couldn’t have come at a better time for Dronfield.

U16's Dronfield v Notts Mods

We need to send special thanks to the Notts Mods team for bringing a referee for today’s game, as well as the Notts Mods lads who joined Dronfield for the match. Overall, it was a great match today from both teams in horrible conditions. It started off cold, wet, muddy and miserable and only got worse (That ball was definitely slippery when wet )… but here at Dronfield we don’t blame it on the rain!

Under 12s Dore v Dronfield

A huge battle up at Dore Moor between two sides well up for the challenge. The first 15 minutes were scoreless, with Dronfield dominating the territory for the opening minutes, before a swing to Tigers who took control of game for the next period. The game was dictated by the breakdown, where both teams were keen to contest the ruck and win turnovers. Seth and George were outstanding here, halting several attacks and regaining possession.

1st XV Malton & Norton v Dronfield

A third consecutive away fixture proved a tough day in the office for Dronfield, who travelled to Malton and Norton with a couple of enforced changes to the starting XV. The home side started the stronger of the two teams and following a spell of pressure in the Dronfield half the scrum half dummied and went from 10 yards out to score the opening points of the game.

U10's Ashbourne v Dronfield

The U10s travelled to Ashbourne today, and although the ice had gone, a windy mudfest awaited! Dronfield took and early lead with great solo efforts from Will & Charlie, but Ashbourne soon got their big balls carriers into the game who were difficult to stop at times.

U13's Dronfield v Ashbourne

Another excellent victory for our U13’s hosting Ashbourne in our final NLD Cup group game this morning. A tough start playing against the wind and up the slope, Dronfield were penalised for a number of knock-ons and found the scrum a challenge against a driven Ashbourne pack./Users/rachelpersonal/Downloads/10a.jpeg

A crispy start to the day as the Under 10’s played their first game of 2024. The team came up against a really good Mosborough side. Dronfield playing with the returning Tom “wrecking ball” Robson and Oliver Hague making his debut.

Under 12's

U12's Dronfield v Mosborough

Another cracker of a contest between two very even teams today, but after a consistent attacking display, Dronfield came away with the spoils. The contest was fierce around the breakdown, where both teams battled hard for quick ball and there were plenty of tackles from both sides.
