The only game of the weekend was the u12 this week. Always a challenge when playing the quality of Sheffield Tigers, and this week was no different. Games like these test the players mentally: can they dig in, problem solve, mange emotions, push beyond their comfort zone, and demonstrate a level of resilience along with showing good sportsmanship. Very proud of the attitude this week, leading to us having great parity in the breakdown battle and close quarters exchanges. Several turnovers, secure ruck ball, gain line breaks and some incredible tackling showed a great spirit, and despite a heavy defeat, the lads left smiling having enjoyed the challenge and contest. A great learning experience beyond simply the rugby skills.
Well done to our players of the match, who stood toe to toe with a great Tigers outfit.
George Cartwright
Absolutely gave everything to win the small battles, win gain line, dominate rucks and bring a physical edge. Attitude was amzaing- tired, bruised and coverdale in mud, and enjoyed every second!
Owen Walker
Everywhere and and brought a physical presence. Several jackal turnovers and stopped several attacks by Tigers through determination. Moment of the match. Kick off went deep to Tigers' biggest player. Tigers went on the charge busting our line and ran into score, if not for Owen's cornerflagging run to knock the player into touch inches from the line.
Oliver Ellin
An absolute athlete. Moved to the edge to bring some threat and security and did the job brilliantly. Secured the wide channels and prevented further tries through his physical edge. Chased back and turned some pressure situations into attacking opportunities. Optimised the attitude needed to compete at this level.
